Update from Feedly: “We’re making some changes to our infrastructure that will allow us to bring Feedly back online. However, these things take some time to put into place and it may still be a few more hours before service is restored.” If you’ve been having issues accessing your RSS feed via Feedly today, well, there’s a good reason for that. Feedly has announced that it’s currently suffering a DDoS (distributed denial-of-service) attack, with the perpetrator(s) attempting to garner money from the company to make it stop. “We refused to give in and are working with our network providers to mitigate…

Here’s a neat addition to the Google+ Photos app for Chrome OS: Any new photos stored on an SD card will now be uploaded to your Google+ account automatically – even if you decide to close the app. That’s a huge victory for Chromebooks, as it’ll bring your workflow closer in line to the excellent Auto-Backup service offered in Google+ for iOS/Android. In the past, it’s taken considerable effort to backup photos from an SD card – especially if you’re dealing with RAW images and other unusual file types. Extensions and apps are probably the most useful part of Google’s Chrome browser, and the company is continuing its efforts to make sure that the features are not abused after it opened them up to let users see exactly what they are up to. Google has now added an audit feature to the standalone Chrome Apps Developer Tool — that it launched last year — which enables you to see exactly what each extensions is doing with your data. The company admits that it will probably only be of interest to “power users,” but the new feature is the latest in a series of measures aimed at cleaning…

As London cabbies protest, Uber launches UberTaxi platform for London cabbies

FireShot Screen Capture #179 - 'Uber Blog – Introducing_ #UberTAXI' - blog_uber_com_UberTAXI
Up to 12,000 black-cab drivers (cabbies) are expected to fill the streets of London today, in protest against technology-enabled services such as Uber. Their gripe? Uber allows its users to beckon a cab with their mobile phone, and the associated fare is worked out using a mobile phone and GPS. The crux of the issue here is that cabbies are comparing this to a taximeter, which legally only black cabs are allowed to use in the capital. So, what does Uber do to appease the situation? It launches UberTaxi, of course, its fourth service in the bustling British conurbation. Unlike its…
