What’s a flagship phone anyway?

Recommending phones used to be easy. A few years ago, if a friend was coming to the end of their contract and needed to pick a new model, I’d tell them to grab the newest iPhone or Samsung Galaxy S-whatever. Now, it’s a lot more nuanced, and the top-tier segment of the phone market has lost its shine. So, what happened? In short, the entire concept of a flagship phone became… I’m not sure redundant is the right word, but perhaps blurred? Take the Honor 20 series, for example, which Huawei announced today at an event in London. The top-tier…

Sony shows off PS4 Spider-Man game on PS5

We’ve allegedly had our first look at what Sony‘s next-generation PlayStation console will be capable of doing — and, unfortunately, what we saw didn’t show us much of anything except that the PS5 will be able to run PS4 games very well. That’s great for backwards compatibility, but it doesn’t tell us as much about the PS5’s capabilities as we’d all like. The footage comes from Wall Street Journal tech reporter Takashi Mochizuki, who appeared to take the footage at a management meeting showing off the new hardware. The presenters compared the performance of last year’s Spider-Man game on the PS4…

The future of AI is collaborative

May21

AI is becoming increasingly widespread, affecting all facets of society — even Sonic drive-ins are planning to implement artificial intelligence to provide better customer service. Of course, every time a new innovation appears in the realm of AI, fears arise regarding its potential to replace human jobs. While this is a reality of adapting to a more tech-driven society, these fears tend to ignore the collaborative and job-creating attributes that AI will have in the future. The future’s most successful businesses will be those that learn to combine the best attributes of machines and human workers to achieve new levels…

The new Honor 20 series has great specs, but terrible luck

May21
by Sindy Cator on May 21, 2019 at 4:10 pm

It’s a bit of a tough time for Huawei‘s budget sub brand Honor to release its latest flagship phone, but, the show must go on. And, to be quite honest, the Honor 20 series has some impressive looking specs for a mid-tier device, even if this is the worst possible timing. Still, let’s take a look! The models There are three models of the Honor 20 series: the Pro, the regular, and the Lite. In regards to the rest of this piece, we’re going to be focusing on the Honor 20 Pro and the Honor 20. Processors and displays Each…

Research reveals surprising relationship between climate change and fertility rate

May21
by Sindy Cator on May 21, 2019 at 3:04 pm
Posted In: Around the Web, syndication, world

Climate change will shape every aspect of human life – often in complex ways. Take the question of deciding how many children to have, for example. A new analysis suggests that climate change could increase fertility rates in tropical countries, in turn magnifying the impacts of climate change on those countries and widening the gap between wealthy and poorer nations. In the study, researchers built a model that combined standard economic theory with data on how climate change is likely to affect different sectors of the economy. Climate change is widely held to affect agriculture more than other sectors of…
