Airbnb'S Value Estimated At $10 Billion After New Round Of Investments
Airbnb today announced it has revamped its review system to promote more and more honest feedback. Given that the accommodation service is completely built on trust, this feature is arguably the most important to ensuring its continued use: both hosts and guests can make informed decisions before and during the stay. The first change is that reviews will now be revealed to hosts and guests simultaneously: they will only be shown after both participants have completed their assessment of the experience. This is in response to both hosts and guests worrying that if they leave an honest review, they might…

5 things US startups need to understand to succeed in the EU

travel
Tanguy Peers is the co-founder of Co.station, a Brussels and San Francisco-based post-accelerator which helps companies expand on both sides of the Atlantic through access to talent, expertise and capital. There are a lot of blogs out there explaining to European startups how to move to the Valley (and how to move around in the Valley once they arrive). There are fewer blogs about startups going the other way, which is understandable. A US startup expanding to Europe will already have a sizable business in the US, and it is often better funded. It has also proven that it can scale at…

Flowboard for Mac roundtrips your presentations from desktop to cloud to iPad and back

When most people hear the words “presentation software,” two popular packages immediately spring to mind: PowerPoint and Keynote. While those are not the only ones out there, it’s often hard to name specific alternatives immediately. Flowboard hopes to change that with the debut of its Mac desktop package, a companion to its year-old iPad app of the same name. While this newcomer has taken an unusual route — the mobile version preceded the desktop version — its developer believes that will emphasize the product’s online, interactive focus. “Our software is built for the interactive presentation space; it’s not slide, slide, slide,” said Flowboard founder…

TEmpo
More than a year after Tempo AI launched its smart calendar, the iPhone app is today receiving a handful of interesting updates. Tempo started life at SRI International, the independent non-profit research institute that gave rise to Siri and its travel-related sibling Desti. Tempo understands the context surrounding your event and pulls in not only addresses and directions, but contact information for people you’re meeting, related documents and more. With the latest release, Tempo is getting natural-language input, which basically means you can now add a new calendar event just by describing it in plain English, for example: “Playing tennis…

Google’s YouTube Creator Studio app is now available for iPhone users too

Almost two weeks after Google launched its YouTube Creator Studio app for Android, the internet giant has now introduced a version for iPhone users too, as expected. As with the Android incarnation, creatives can manage their channel wherever they roam, including checking stats, responding directly to comments and setting up customized push notifications.     Users can also update their video details and settings directly through this app. However, this isn’t for actually shooting and uploading videos – for that you’ll probably want YouTube Capture. ➤ YouTube Creator Studio | App Store [via 9to5Mac]
