Pinterest acquires and discontinues content organization service Icebergs

Pinterest has announced the acquisition of Icebergs, a service for organizing visual content in the cloud. As part of the deal, Icebergs will shut down on September 1, 2014. Existing users of Icebergs can export their data to Dropbox or as a .json file ahead of the shutdown. Icebergs founders César Isern and Albert Pereta noted that the service had grown to reach “hundreds of thousands” of creatives over the past year, but now at Pinterest, the team have the opportunity to reach tens of millions of users. The deal is Pinterest’s fifth acquisition, following Punchfork, Livestar, Hackermeter, and Visual Graph….

Dario brings its diabetes management app to Android users in the UK and New Zealand

Dario, the blood glucose management app and smart meter, is now available for Android users in the UK, New Zealand. First announced and made available for iOS users at the end of last year, Dario helps people manage diabetes and other similar conditions by tracking insulin and blood-sugar levels. Square readies new Reader with chip-and-PIN card support ahead of EMV adoption in the US

Square has unveiled plans to release a new Square Reader – a smartphone and tablet dongle that allows businesses to easily accept credit card payments – that supports chip-and-PIN cards in the US. The refreshed Square Reader will be compatible with EMV, a standard developed by Europay, MasterCard and Visa, ahead of its introduction in the US later this year.
