Back in February, we brought you news on Distiller, an iPhone app that’s striving to be the ultimate whisky-drinker’s companion. Distiller analyzes tens-of-thousands of data points across flavors, price, reputation and more, then delivers personalized whisky recommendations from around the world. It later arrived for Android too. Today, Distiller is expanding beyond a simple recommendation engine into a fully fledged social network for whisky drinkers, where fans of a dram can hang out, swap notes, share favorites and learn about a multitude of different malts. Driverless cars may be six months or so from being trialled on the UK’s streets but the European Union has today outlined plans for self-parking and retrieving cars, designed to save you time at the lot. The V-Charge system is receiving €5.6m (around $7.5m) in funding and has already been developed by researchers from Germany, Italy, the UK and Switzerland and early tests took part at Stuttgart airport earlier this year. “There are only a few minutes before your flight check-in closes, or before your train departs, but you now have to spend precious time hunting for a free space at…

Indiegogo’s first native iPhone app is now available worldwide following a brief Canada-only stint

Indiegogo has announced that the iOS app it released at the beginning of July for users in Canada is now available globally. As a brief recap, the app allows users to browse through campaigns based on categories or recommendations, claim perks and share the ones they find most interesting with friends.On the campaigner’s side of things, there are features for keeping atop of campaign management, like notifications for each time a contribution is made and the ability to monitor comments and post updates or pictures, for example. There are no other changes (other than availability) but Indiegogo taking its first native mobile…
