Designer and Web developer Amine Zafri has created an absolutely beautiful Facebook concept inspired by Google Now. In short, he has taken the cards that power Google’s intelligent personal assistant and applied them to the Facebook Timeline. “I love how Google Now uses all the data Google has about a user, to generate useful and rich information they might need,” Zafri explains. “And this is what I tried to bring to Facebook with this concept, creating a more interactive experience based on users likes and data.” The result is called Facebook Cards: The best part is that Zafri has created…

We see a ton of ugly, unreadable press releases come through our inboxes at The Next Web, so the new Tiny Pitch PR service from Pitch Engine has potential. To get started, Tiny Pitch has you send your headline, text and images over email. It then generates a custom page that you can share on social media, link to or embed. There’s no need to create a profile since it’s all tied to your email address. Viewers of your press release can contact you through a message button at the bottom of your release. Tiny Pitch envisions journalists using the service…

James Clear writes about using behavioral science to master your habits and improve your health. His free guide, Transform Your Habits, has been downloaded more than 80,000 times. This post originally appeared on his blog. In 2010, Dave Brailsford faced a tough job. No British cyclist had ever won the Tour de France, but as the new General Manager and Performance Director for Team Sky (Great Britain’s professional cycling team), Brailsford was asked to change that. His approach was simple. Brailsford believed in a concept that he referred to as the “aggregation of marginal gains.” He explained it as “the 1 percent margin for…

Dropbox today announced an update to Dropbox for Business that brings three new features into the fold: view-only permissions for shared folders, passwords for shared links and expirations for shared links. The company says all three are “highly requested features” and are available to all Business users today. View-only permissions for shared folders let team members choose who can view or edit files within a shared folder they’ve created. Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has stepped down from the company’s board of directors in order to focus on his new role as owner of the LA Clippers basketball team. Ballmer made the announcement in a public letter to new CEO Satya Nadella. Ballmer is splitting his time between the Clippers, “civic contribution,” teaching and study. Nadella responded with a note of gratitude for Ballmer’s time with Microsoft: “While your insights and leadership will be greatly…
