If you’re a fan of the NBC-owned Breaking News app for Android, you might like the latest update to hit Google Play. As with the iPhone incarnation that arrived back in June, Breaking News for Android now serves up proximity alerts, which are basically push notifications for big stories wherever you happen to be at a specific moment. These move with you, rather than remaining static to a pre-set ‘home’ location. Feedly was one of the big beneficiaries from the demise of Google Reader last year, with RSS certainly showing no signs of dying any time soon. Indeed, Feedly is continuing to evolve into more than a simple RSS reader – it wants to be a destination for consuming content, with beautifully designed mobile apps to boot.
