A day after launching Hyperlapse, a nifty app for creating moving timelapse videos, Instagram has published an explanation of the image stabilization technology behind it. Previously, making compelling hyperlapse videos was a time-consuming, and often expensive, process. Microsoft recently outlined its own research on stabilizing timelapse videos. The image stabilization feature in Hyperlapse is called Cinema. Facebook first introduced it last year in the main Instagram app. Cinema tracks the gyroscope readings from your phone in order to cancel out the shakiness of your hands. Once Hyperlapse has processed the amount of motion in the recording, it crops the video to…

Flowdock, a tool that helps teams communicate and keep track of conversations about different projects, has announced that it has fully overhauled key elements of the UI and added new features in a bid to make the platform easier to use. Among the changes is a revamped sidebar that shows your conversations and ‘flows’, along with activity indicators. Previously, individual flows and conversations were each shown in their own tab, which had potential to get confusing. Alternatively, if you don’t want to see this sidebar, you can just collapse it. Flowdock said the chat and team inbox features have switched…

Pandora today released its official app for Google Glass, letting owners access their personalized radio stations on the go. The service supports listening in three ways: built-in speaker and bone conduction (no headphones required), single earbud included in the Explorer kit, and the Double earbud accessory (micro-USB). You can control the app with the touchpad (thumb-up and thumb-down tracks, and standard controls like pause, skip, stop) or via voice commands (just two: select an existing station and create a new one). If you own the Glass headset, you can install Pandora by following these steps: Go to google.com/myglass on your…

Johnathan Leow is the author of “The Crowdfunded Kit.” This post originally appeared on Crowdfund Insider. If there’s one big lesson about crowdfunding I’ve learnt in the past eight months, it is that pre-launch marketing can make or break your campaign. I’ve gone from knowing next to nothing about crowdfunding, to running a successful Indiegogo campaign at a previous startup that raised $106,830. Allow me to share with you our story. When we launched Duet on April 5, we had no idea what to expect. Could we even cross $5,000? Would backers like our product? All these fears lurked in my mind as I clicked…

cotap-heros-all

Business messaging service Cotap has gone beyond its mobile-first approach with the release of desktop and Web versions. The OS X version is available today on the Mac App Store, and the Web app is available on the Cotap website. Cotap, which was started by two of Yammer’s earliest executives, still plans to remain focused on mobile, but the addition of desktop options provides continuity for workers across their different machines. Notifications are synced so that messages read on one device will be marked as read on others. So far, Cotap has appealed to companies that have a mix of…
