Ecommerce platform StackSocial rebrands as StackCommerce to focus on publishers

StackSocial, a startup offering “native commerce” solutions to Web publishers, has changed its name to StackCommerce. The company will continue to run its consumer-facing marketplace at StackSocial.com, thus reserving its former name for the first-party version of its platform. StackCommerce works with partners to offer tailored deals, such as discounted apps, e-learning courses, gadgets and accessories, to their respective readers. For instance, the company powers our very own TNW Deals section. Karma announces an upgraded LTE version of its shareable Wi-Fi hotspot

Wireless hotspot service Karma has announced Karma Go, upgraded hardware that runs on Sprint’s LTE network instead of WiMax. When it begins shipping in December, the new US-only device will initially cost $99, but its eventual retail price will rise to $149. Karma avoids monthly plans and contracts, instead allowing you to purchase data in chunks that never expire. The device lets nearby strangers connect to your hotspot, offering a small amount of free data to both users. Additional data starts at $14 per GB with discounts for buying in bulk. Google has announced plans to build a new data centre in Europe, this time in Eemshaven, a seaport in the Netherlands. The internet giant says it has put aside €600 million ($772 million) to build the new data centre, and will be its fourth location in Europe after Finland, Belgium and Ireland. Google currently has more than 10 data centres across the Americas, Europe and Asia. Indeed, its first two Asian data centres opened just last year, in Taiwan and Singapore. Google says the new facility will create more than 1,000 jobs, with a view towards starting “initial opertions” in…
