UK startup ShareMyPlaylists, which runs Spotify playlists sharing platform Playlists.net, has been acquired by WEA, the artist and services arm of American recording giant Warner Music Group (WMG), for an undisclosed sum. Playlists.net has carved a niche for itself in the online music space, becoming known as the preeminent go-to for those wishing to share and explore Spotify playlists. The user-generated themed-playlists cover anything from year- or decade-specific compendiums, to niche genres and cover versions. Anything goes at Playlists.net, and it’s a useful tool for those seeking inspiration ahead of big events, such as weddings, Christmas parties and so on….

Sandi MacPherson is the Editor-in-Chief at Quibb. This post originally appeared on the Quibb blog. When you welcome a new user to your product, don’t put a robot in control. The welcome email is your best opportunity to develop a relationship with someone who’s already interested in your product. It’s extremely valuable and you only get one shot, so it needs to be fully controlled by an actual person (preferably the founder). At the beginning, when you’re trying to learn what’s working in your product and what’s not, a founder can welcome every new user and develop that relationship. Eventually, this…

iPadAir2group

Apple didn’t announce this during its event today, but it has created a SIM that makes switching carriers as easy as a few taps without having to visit a physical carrier store. The Apple SIM that ships in the new iPad Air 2 just made switching carriers and traveling abroad about a hundred times easier. Instead of having to replace a SIM every time you want to connect to a new carrier, the Apple SIM lets you choose carriers in both the US and UK from the Cellular Data setting in the iPad. This is what Apple says on it’s iPad…

If you’ve sided with any music streaming service that isn’t Rdio, you might want to reconsider. The company announced today that its entire catalog has now been converted to the AAC format. In short, that means tracks should sound better across all platforms, including iOS, Android and the Web. Regular Rdio users will be able to stream between 64 kbps and 192 kbps, depending on their connection, while Rdio Unlimited subscribers can access an even higher 320 kbps bitrate. Rdio recently redesigned its already gorgeous music streaming service. This software experience, combined with today’s higher quality file format, should give…

In what seems like the final blow after a roller coaster ride for its users, Twitpic has announced that it will be shutting down on October 25th. It’s with a heavy heart that we re-announce that Twitpic will be shutting down again. More details on our blog http://t.co/LCH7ZTQJHe — TwitPic (@TwitPic) October 16, 2014 The news comes after the company’s original announcement early last month that it would be shutting down, followed by hopes the service would remain active thanks to an apparent acquisition. In its blog post today, founder Noah Everett apologized for getting everyone’s hopes up. Twitpic says it was pressured to…
