Amazon and Hachette bury the hatchet over e-book dispute

Amazon and publisher Hachette have announced they’ve resolved their dispute and signed a new multiyear deal, which will take effect from early 2015. Neither side has disclosed details of the agreement but Hachette will now gain the ability to set e-book prices, which had been a major sticking point in the dispute. Michael Pietsch, Hachette’s CEO, says: “This is great news for writers. The new agreement will benefit Hachette authors for years to come. Uber’s ride splitting feature UberPool hits Europe

Uber’s feature to split the cost of rides, UberPool, will arrive in Paris tomorrow, bringing it to Europe for the first time. The service launched in San Francisco three months ago and Uber has said it will bring the option to London by the end of the year. UberPool promises to reduce the price of your trip by as much as 50% in exchange for allowing the driver to swing by and pick up other passengers on the way.
