Uber-for-restaurant app Reserve launches in San Francisco

Earlier this year, OpenTable found a new competitor in Reserve, a concierge-like app for booking tables at your city’s finest restaurants. Today, the company announced that the app has officially arrived in San Francisco. Partner restaurants at launch include Foreign Cinema, Outerlands and Spruce. San Francisco is the fourth city to be added to Reserve‘s scope (New York, Los Angeles and Boston were the first three cities during its beta launch). Twitter advertisers can now target ads based on the apps a user has installed

After an announcement that it would begin tracking users’ app installs last week, Twitter has begun to use that functionality to allow advertisers to target users more directly and reach the most valuable audiences. The functionality is a little more in depth than originally anticipated, however. For example, in addition to app installs, marketers can look at which apps a user has registered or made purchases within. This could allow them to continually remind forgetful users to sign up, or persuade them into buying into a special promotion. Google Sheets now lets you add miniature charts within cells

Uber introduces charitable donations with No Kid Hungry partnership

Let’s take a break from all the bad Uber news recently to look at something positive, for a change. The company today announced a partnership with the No Kid Hungry charity, allowing riders  in the US to donate to the cause through Uber’s platform this week. As of today, riders can tap a “Donate” option at the bottom of their screen when ordering a cab, after which they will be charged an additional $5 as a donation.
