Ryanair’s planning in-flight entertainment and Wi-Fi…possibly for free

Ryanair has announced that it plans to trial in-flight entertainment and Wi-Fi on some of its flights this year, reports Reuters. The announcement is the latest in a series of moves to make the airline more appealing to business travelers. Last year, Chief Executive Michael O’Leary pledged to cease “unnecessarily pissing people off.” The airline became notorious for finding ways to levy extra charges on customers, so much so that O’Leary once joked about making passengers pay to use the onboard lavatories. Since last year’s change in strategy, Ryanair has cut penalty charges, redesigned its famously frustrating website, invested heavily…

google domains

After announcing its domain registration service last summer, today Google Domains has lifted the invitation-only access and is open to anyone in the US. Google Domains comes with a dashboard to help users maintain their website, along with Blogger integration to help sync company blog posts. The service will offer templates and a site builder price comparison tool, which includes partners like Shopify, Squarespace, Wix and Weebly. For other third-party site developers (such as WordPress), you’ll have to manually set the resource codes. With Google Domains, you’ll be able to buy and sell domains through the service, as well as create…

UK supermarket Tesco pushes on with its vision for shopping via Google Glass

Posted In: Around the Web, Insider, Product Launches, UK

UK supermarket Tesco has today announced the first proper release of its Groceries shopping app for Google Glass, following on from its early beta version first revealed last year. To use it, just like any other Glass app, you say “Ok Glass” and then either “Find a product” or “Scan a barcode”. Of course, if you tell it to find a product, you need to actually tell it which one to find too. OK, so perhaps there aren’t quite as many Glass wearers in the UK as the US, but anything that helps avoid running out of milk is welcomed…

Google Sheets now lets you add logos and images to headers

Google wants to help make your spreadsheets a little prettier: you can now add graphics such as logos or branding to the header section in Google Sheets. Now, instead of simple boring text, you can select your header cell, go to the ‘Insert’ menu, and select ‘Image’. The new graphic will be added in and you can resize it to your liking. A small update, but hey, anything to make spreadsheets more interesting. ➤ Google Drive

Amazon is wrong to sign Woody Allen

You can almost hear Woody Allen’s famous nasal voice in the quote attached to Amazon’s announcement that it’s signed him to create his first television series: “I don’t know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I’m not sure where to begin. My guess is that Roy Price will regret this.” It’s a typically self-deprecating joke but I’m willing to bet Price, Vice-President of Amazon Studios, really will come to regret it. Last year, Dylan Farrow, Allen’s adoptive daughter, wrote a post, published by The New York Times, in which she accused him of sexually abusing her as a child.…
