The US’ Federal Aviation Administration and Department of Transportation have unveiled a proposal for rules governing the use of drones in the country. The regulations [PDF link] aim to maintain aviation safety standards, but also make it difficult for companies hoping to use drones to courier packages. The listed limitations include flying unmanned aircraft weighing less than 55lb only between sunrise and sunset, and keeping the drone within a pilot’s line of sight, under 500 feet altitude. Operators are also prohibited from dropping cargo from drones. That effectively kills Amazon’s plans for revolutionizing its delivery methods. Paul Misener, Amazon vice-president…

LG Watch Urbane
LG is set to unveil the Watch Urbane, its latest Android Wear smartwatch that features a round stainless steel body and full circular Plastic OLED (P-OLED) display at this year’s Mobile World Congress next month. Aimed at fashion-conscious gadget aficionados, the Watch Urbane looks more like a traditional timepiece and features a narrower bezel than the sporty G Watch R, and comes in polished silver and gold finishes. It also has a natural leather strap that can be replaced with any 22mm wide band to suit the wearer’s style. Under the hood, it’s quite similar to the Watch R. It…

Rumors are swirling this week that Apple has quietly been building a car for the last year. The Wall Street Journal reported last week that Apple plans to build a 1,000-strong team for working on its car project: The Cupertino, Calif., company has several hundred employees working secretly toward creating an Apple-branded electric vehicle, according to people familiar with the matter. The project, code-named “Titan,” initially is working on the design of a vehicle that resembles a minivan, one of the people said. The timing of this report is interesting, considering that just last week rumor sites spotted an Apple-owned minivan cruising around. via…
