So You’re The __ is an oddly compelling experiment created by Ramsay Lanier, which encourages you to call out the funniest/coolest/best/worst/weirdest folks on Twitter. Once you sign in with your Twitter credentials, you can create an award for any account you like, adding a reason why they’re the best or the weirdest or just so damn cool, and a GIF to illustrate that emotion. So You’re The __ then tweets the subject of your affections/disdain/curiosity to alert them and gives you the option to share your creation through your own account. It’s an ultimately pointless exercise but it’s hard not to respond in kind when…

Bing made some bets on who’d win at the Oscars and did pretty well. Now, Twitter has used mentions data to make its own predictions about who’ll win at tonight’s BRIT Awards. The BRITs are effectively the British equivalent of the Grammys and this year’s ceremony will see some hotly contested battles between some of pop music’s biggest names. Twitter’s been tracking the number of mentions acts have got in relation to the awards since the nominations were announced in January. It’s predicting success for One Direction and Taylor Swift, and disappointment for Ed Sheeran and Coldplay. Here’s its full list of predictions:…

Gemalto
Dutch SIM card manufacturer Gemalto says its networks were “probably” hacked, but that encryption keys were not compromised. It made the statement while sharing the findings of its internal investigation into claims its systems were breached by the NSA and GCHQ. Gemalto said yesterday that it believes its SIM cards are secure. In its report today, it adds that it implemented a secure transfer system for SIM keys with mobile operators in 2010, and that the breach would most likely not have affected its operations. The company also says that even if the intelligence agencies had managed to steal these…
