Developer Hamza Sood has revealed the not unexpected fact that the iPhone version of the Apple Watch’s Activity app is lurking within iOS 8.2. It seems it will only appear when your phone is paired with the wearable device, unlike the undeletable companion app. The Activity app uses the same all black UI as the Apple Watch app and features Apple’s San Francisco typeface. The icon features the same three rings as the Apple Watch’s fitness app – representing standing, walking and brisk exercise. Apple hasn’t officially shared information on the iPhone version of the Activity app but it looks like it’ll…

Pep Rosenfeld is co-founder of comedy theater Boom Chicago and Boom Chicago Creative in Amsterdam. He loves both nerd chic and chic nerds, and can be seen hosting events where they meet — like #TNW2015. WhatsApp calling
We’ve been hearing rumors for a while now about WhatsApp launching voice calling on its Android app. The feature is indeed available in the app’s latest version, but you’ll need another user’s help to activate it. First, you’ll first need the latest version of the Android app, which, at the time of writing is 2.11.561. Then you’ll have to ask a user who has the feature to call you. Once you’ve received the call, close the app and reopen it. You should now see a new screen with three columns, including one for calls.   You can then call any of…

Cortana
Microsoft will soon make its voice-activated digital personal assistant Cortana available as a standalone app for Android and iOS devices, reports Reuters. Cortana is currently exclusive to Windows Phone devices, but will come to Windows 10 for desktops this autumn, and subsequently arrive on mobile devices powered by Google and Apple. Microsoft will beef up Cortana’s capabilities before rolling it to other platforms. The company is working on an advanced version of its voice assistant, incorporating research from an artificial intelligence project called Einstein. There’s no word yet on just when Cortana will launch across platforms. We’ve contacted Microsoft to…
