Google’s April Fools jokes are far superior than most others in tech and its latest is no exception. A new button that’s appeared in Chrome mobile today for users in timezones where it’s already April 1 allows you to take a selfie as a reaction to any site. It’s ridiculous… but kind of amazing all at once. Clicking the bar at the bottom or in the Chrome menu offers the selfie mode which splits the screen with your camera and takes a screenshot. From there, you’re able to share your reaction to the social network of your choice with the hashtag…

Slack has a new information bar that simplifies making sense of the channels you’re a part of. Clicking the shiny new information button shows a dedicated sidebar that provides information about the channel and allows teams to pin items and messages to the channel itself for surfacing later on. Slack also said that it rearranged the top navigation to help you find starred items and recent mentions from team members in a single click. The idea is to provide more information about who’s online, the channel’s purpose and more in a single place. The new sidebar is available in your…

applewatchdemo
Apple has today quietly announced that it’s now expanding Apple Watch app submissions to all developers. In a short post to the developer site, Apple is encouraging developers to prepare and submit WatchKit apps for review ahead of the April 24th launch date. This guide walks developers through the requirements for submitting to the App Store. Developers can submit up to five screenshots of their app, are required to provide a similar icon to that of their companion iPhone app and must mention Apple Watch support in the update notes. With Apple Watch pre-orders kicking off on April 10 and…

Outdoor Soil Monitor
We wrote last month about the Spark Electron, the startup’s first cellular-connected development board. Now, just in the time for the end of its Kickstarter campaign, the company has announced international deals to make its bundled SIM card work in over 100 countries. The move means individual makers and companies in Latin America, Australia, most of Asia and a large part of Africa will now be able to use the Electron as the basis for new connected devices. Spark CEO Zach Supalla tells TNW that he sees huge potential for the Electron beyond the western world: “One example use case is to measure the quality and…

Google’s Inbox email app adds support for custom Snooze times

Mar31

1105_google_inbox
One of the most useful features in Google’s new Inbox email client is the ability to set Snooze times for when you want to save some email to read for later. Google’s now making the tool a little more versatile. Previously, you could only assign generic morning, afternoon and evening times. Now these are customizable, and somewhat automated too. If you snooze to, say 7:30AM, you’ll be asked whether you want to set that as your new ‘morning’ time. Once you update a time, the rest of your snooze options will adapt too, but you can always change your Snooze…
