OftenType
Typing on your phone can be a drag, especially when you have to key in names, addresses and other info over and over. A new iOS keyboard aims to make it a cinch to paste text snippets you use often, and it’s actually kind of neat. OftenType eschews the standard keyboard layout for a row of large customizable buttons with simple icons. You can create a button by choosing an icon and text label for it, and then add a text snippet. For example, I’ve got one labeled ‘email’ with an envelope icon that’s set to paste in my email…

Office 365 Video
Microsoft is rolling out Office 365 Video, a new service that lets companies upload and share video content with their entire organizations on desktops and mobile devices. Whether you need to internally share an orientation video, a training program, a marketing tutorial or a notification from human resources, Office 365 Video aims to make it easier than sharing bulky files over your intranet. It’s kind of like YouTube for companies. The new service lets administrators create channels for various categories of videos and upload content with metadata so they’re easy to browse in companies’ video portals and in Delve. Once…

googlesearch
It’s hard enough to conduct a Web search on a smartphone without the results being at best, irrelevant or at worst, indecipherable. But so often they are both. Today, Google announced that it is rolling out a fix to improve how people view mobile search results. Specifically, it is updating the algorithms that display URLs in search results to better reflect actual Website names. According to a blog post by software engineer Bartlomiej Niechwiej and product manager Rob Ennals, “Well-structured URLs offer users a quick hint about the page topic and how the page fits within the Website.” The new format reveals the…

adobefeature
In a blog post entitled, What About Android?, Adobe sought to reassure what is likely a restless creative community that watches in dismay as high-profile apps are released one after the other for the iPhone and iPad. The inevitable question — what about us? — no doubt has long echoed through the corridors of  Adobe’s San Jose and San Francisco HQs. Today, the company flat out told its Android constituency to relax. “…we didn’t forget you Android,” said the post by Will Eisley, principal product manager. “We’re working hard to develop Android phone support for some of our most popular apps. But we want…
