Finding the right job often means making a lot of choices, so when it comes to building a career, people are increasingly willing to look for opportunities across borders or overseas. The decision can be the result of socio-economic circumstance, ambition or even wanderlust. We spoke to job-seekers from 18 European cities about what it is that makes certain startup hubs sexier than others. We asked: “What if we were looking to work in a startup in any city in Europe? What kind of questions would job-seekers ask? And then we looked at how the reasons stack up against each other. So, if you’re considering a startup job…

As of today, anyone in the US or UK can go to Skype.com (or web.skype.com) and connect to Skype for Web instead of downloading the app. This means that if you’re using a public computer or one that doesn’t have Skype installed, you will still be able to access your calls and IMs. The Web beta is available for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer. Features of Skype for Web include syncing of your conversations from other devices, easy search and of course, video and audio calling as well as instant messaging. ➤ Skype for Web (Beta) is now available to everyone…

Google’s President of EMEA Business and Operations Matt Brittin has admitted that the company made mistakes in Europe. Speaking with Politico in his first public interview since the EU filed antitrust charges against Google over  shopping services, Brittin said: “We don’t always get it right.” This was the main message of the conciliatory interview. The executive admitted that Google had failed in communications in Europe when it came to its relationship with authorities on the continent. He said the company “just didn’t have the people on the ground to be able have some of those conversations as we grew.” Google…

The band’s 2001 video for ‘Imitation of Life’ used just 20 seconds of repeating footage. You can see the original footage here… …and watch below how that was turned into zooming shots to create the full length video: There are a lot of creative Vines out there, but Garth Jennings’ work on this pop promo can match the best of them. We are all used to companies knowing a bit about us. We quickly accepted that if we look at a toaster on an online shop we’ll get a toaster advert on the next site we visit. It took a little longer for us to accept that social media platforms host ads based on our lifestyle and behaviour, but we went for it. After all, sharing some personal information and sacrificing a little privacy seems a small price to pay for access to unlimited content and a range of free services online.
