Twitter is very keen on creating custom emoji – it calls them ‘hashflags’ – for important events and famous people. It started with the World Cup back in 2010 and we’ve seen ones for Ramadan and Taylor Swift’s Bad Blood video recently. The latest are Wimbledon themed. They were announced by Serena Williams on her Twitter account and don’t just include tennis equipment, there are also emoji for vital bits of the experience like #thequeue and #thehill. Google Self-Driving Car prototype
Google announced that it’s begun testing the latest prototypes of its self-driving car, which are designed to be fully autonomous without any sort of controls. However, during this testing phase, the cars will have removable steering wheels, as well as accelerator and brake pedals so safety drivers on board can take over if necessary. The company announced last month it would begin testing these cars on roads in California. The prototypes will top out at 25 mph and run the same software as Google’s existing fleet of Lexus vehicles. The announcement comes on the same day that one of Google’s autonomous cars had a…

But even for the most experienced founders, it can be difficult to face the ugly truth and admit the shortcomings that ultimately caused your failure. That’s why I asked nine members from Young Entrepreneur Council (YEC) the following question: I’m thinking of writing a post-mortem of my startup as an exercise for my team so we can anticipate and solve problems better.…

OneWeb
OneWeb has closed a $500 million funding round to build a satellite system that it says will provide affordable broadband services across the globe. The company has attracted investment from Airbus, Bharti Enterprises, Qualcomm, Coca-Cola, Virgin Group and others. It will use the funds to develop key technologies required to enable internet access for undeveloped locations. The announcement comes just days after Airbus confirmed it will be building 900 satellites for OneWeb’s project. 648 of those will be launched into orbit to provide broadband globally, while the rest will remain on the ground as spares. OneWeb plans over 65 launches…
