google project fi mobile network
If you were one of the people to sign up early for Google’s upcoming cellular service – Project Fi – you can now keep track of your invite’s status more easily. Google rolled out an online tool to its Project Fi sign-up page showing people when they should expect to hear back about access to the service. According to TechCrunch, several users are seeing 3-4 or 4-8 week time frames, but others only see a message indicating Google is still determining their status, with no precise time frame to be found. TechCrunch also notes the invites don’t seem to be…

Google celebrates Pride with new Hangouts Easter eggs

Happy Pride
LGBT Pride Month may be about to end, but that doesn’t mean it’s too late for Google to add some new Easter eggs to Hangouts – especially given today’s momentous Supreme Court Ruling legalizing same-sex marriage throughout the US. Typing “happy pride” into Hangouts will show a randomly selected animation. There appear to be three animations: a parade of emoji waving a Pride flag, an animated rainbow, and one of two emoji kissing. A week ago, Google introduced a set of Pride-themed Androidify characters, which you could dress up to participate in a virtual Pride parade this weekend. ➤ Google…

Where’s the ‘Save for Web’ command in Photoshop CC 2015?

For Photoshop users with Save for Web muscle memory, a recent update to Photoshop CC will be jarring. So if you just got around to updating your apps, you won’t find the command at the File menu any longer. That’s because Adobe has relocated the Save for Web command under the Export menu. No big whoop, right? Wrong. Now, it’s not like Adobe removed Save for Web command altogether, but the team sure made it less convenient and more time-consuming to use. The Export menu is located under the File menu, and now Save for Web is a sub-command which requires some sleight of…

Apple has made a slight change to its AppleCare+ insurance plan that may have a big impact. Now, any mobile device with a battery at less than 80 percent capacity is eligible for service. The change affects all iPhone, iPad, iPod or Apple Watch devices with an AppleCare+ plan. Previous language of the agreement stated that only devices with batteries below 50 percent capacity could receive a repair or replacement. If during the Plan Term, you submit a valid claim by notifying Apple that (i) a defect in materials and workmanship has arisen in the Covered Equipment, or (ii) the…

Fashion discovery app WantList for iOS makes swiping right a lot more fun than Tinder

WantList is a new fashion discovery app on iOS from London-based shopping site Styloko. The app provides a Tinder-like approach to shopping. You swipe right if you like what you see, and left if you don’t. You add things that you like to your WantList and sort into Collections. Then, you can price compare different versions of the same product, which WantList calls “Luxe” and “Less.” I’m not a fan of Tinder, so my swiping experience is limited, but the gesture certainly lends itself well to the shopping experience. First impressions The sign-up process is straightforward. You only need to give…
