Why I switched from Google to DuckDuckGo; it’s all about the bangs

Google is fun to say, but DuckDuckGo — at least for me — is a lot more fun to use. While I can’t repeat the name as a verb (I can ‘Google it’ on Google; I don’t know what I’d say for a DuckDuckGo search), the upstart search engine has quickly become my go-to on a day to day basis. While its main draw is privacy, DuckDuckGo has another killer feature you may not have heard of. In fact, it should cause you to consider ditching your existing search engine for DuckDuckGo — yes, even Google. I’m talking about bangs. No, not 80s hair…

iPhone6-3Up-AppleMusic-Features-PR-PRINT-2
Now that you’ve had a chance to settle in with the new Apple Music, you’ve probably formulated some opinions about it: How is the streaming service working? Does the new Beats 1 Radio live up to your expectations? Is the Connect social network something to write home about? You may be trying to decide whether a monthly subscription to Apple Music down the road is worth the price, compared to what Pandora, Spotify, SoundCloud, Rdio and others have to offer. If Apple Music is available to you, then you’ve upgraded your iPhone or iPad to iOS 8.4, and it’s likely that you’ve already downloaded the newest…

startup
From the newest social media channels to cutting-edge Web design, entrepreneurs are eager to keep up with the latest and greatest trends in the space. But at what point does this cause a startup to lose steam as a direct result of failing to differentiate themselves from the pack? To find out which trends are old news, I asked nine entrepreneurs from Young Entrepreneur Council (YEC) the following question. What’s one design fad that startups need to move away from and why? Their best answers are below: 1. Bad Brand Messaging Hire a copywriter right away to help you talk about what you…

Hands-on with Parrot’s newest range of minidrones designed for air, land and water

Parrot_Cargo_feat
Last year, Parrot launched a range of minidrones that were more like those miniature toy radio-controlled helicopters and cars than they were full-size professional-level drones. Unsurprisingly, given the growing interest and relatively low price tag, they were a hit and sold more than 600,000 units. To follow up on this success, Parrot has launched a new range of devices and we got the chance to spend a few minutes going hands-on with each of them at the UK launch. Read on to find out how they fared… Airborne Drones Among Parrot’s new airborne drones, there’s one equipped with dual-LEDs for flying…

copa america 2015 chile
June was a fairly eventful month for Latin America, and not just because of soccer tournament Copa America, although tech companies used it to engage with their users. For instance, Google made special doodles to celebrate its main highlights, on which fans could keep score with a simple “Okay, Google” voice command, while ridesharing app Yeba.me launched a dedicated page to help them travel from game to game across Chile. In other tech-related news, some major funding rounds were officially closed, while some interesting new projects were launched. Here’s a roundup of announcements you should know about: Google, Apple and Facebook showed care Venezuela and Peru are…
