Comcast finally unveiled the cost of its blazing 2-gigabit-per-second Internet service: $299 per month, or $159 during a special promotional period. This is all well and good, except that its coverage area is a portion of Tennessee, where the median household income is 45th in the nation at $41,693. In Nashville, the biggest city in the coverage area, that price is nearly a quarter of average rent. In Sumner County, which is also a coverage area, it costs more than a third of the median rent. The number is steep, but gigabit service really isn’t there for the common folk. An article from the…

Reddit
It seems like the recent resignation of CEO Ellen Pao didn’t do so much to settle the dust-up at Reddit. Former CEO Yishan Wong came to Pao’s defense in a series of posts on the site — spotted by the New York Times — and levied strong accusations against Ohanian in the days leading up to Pao’s exit. Although both Pao and Ohanian said separately that the CEO change was the result of a mutual agreement regarding company goals, the news came after an uprising on the site led to cascading complaints that the company was out of touch with its user base. The…

Apple may be looking to produce more videos in-house. A listing for a video producer based in Los Angles has been spotted on Apple’s job board, and this person will be charged with leading “all music related video projects for Apple Music & iTunes.” While details of what projects this person would be working on are obviously not listed, it may go well beyond Hype Williams’ wheelhouse. Apple wants someone with a “proven track record in delivering video content projects for brands/artists/media outlets.” It may be as much about advertising as in-house music videos. Apple Music has had some luck with…

No one talks about it, but one of the worst, most damaging uses of your time as an entrepreneur is dedicating yourself to a good startup idea. Wait, what?  A good startup idea is a waste of time? A good startup idea will show you just enough promise and progress to keep you working on it, potentially for years. But in that time, you’ll see your cohort of entrepreneurs blow past you, because they’re working on a great startup idea. That’s why, to Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, one of the most important things that you can do as…

When Instagram first started out, it was an app that gave life to the not-so-sharp photos from our phones. In the beginning there was an air of it being snubbed by the photography elite but as time has gone on, the app has become a rite of passage for budding photographers and brands alike. Instagram has created a real community of people who are embracing mobile photography as a platform for self-expression as much as they are for selfies and sales. The evolution of its newsfeed tells a tale of its own. In the beginning, photos had a truthful naivety…
