Microsoft said on Wednesday that it had notified almost 10,000 customers in the past year that they’d been the target of state-sponsored attacks. The Windows maker said the attacks originated from countries like Iran, North Korea, and Russia. “This data demonstrates the significant extent to which nation-states continue to rely on cyberattacks as a tool to gain intelligence, influence geopolitics or achieve other objectives,” Tom Burt, corporate vice president of customer security & trust at Microsoft, wrote in a blog post. About 84 percent of these attacks were aimed at its enterprise customers, and the remaining 16 percent — about…

US authorities have charged an ex-Microsoft software engineer over a mail fraud plot to steal $10 million worth of digital currency from the tech giant, Fox News reports. Coinbase has today launched a tool that enables users to see information based on the activity of its top traders.  As part of the new launch, customers will see the anonymized data of the top 10 percent of users and can use the information to create their own cryptocurrency investment strategy. Data points will include top holder activity of each asset traded, the median number of days different assets stay in a customer account, the popularity of an asset, and asset price correlation, which will measure the extent to which cryptocurrency values have moved in relation to each other.  “These…

Ugh, the Gregorian calendar is so boring. That’s why we’re disrupting monthly series with a lunar cycle-based series about the best patents of the last synodic month, picked by the PatentYogi team. Get ready when that moon gets gibbous, y’all. This June-ish roundup lands on the tasty Strawberry Moon! Since my last post, the US patent office issued over 31,961 patents and published over 24,383 patent applications. Each patent asset adds a little something new to the human knowledge base. As I cannot list all these patent assets here, the PatentYogi team has selected the five most interesting patent assets. Enjoy! Microsoft will…
