Watch someone play GoldenEye with a piano as a controller

Few third-party Nintendo 64 titles have managed to maintain as fond memories as Goldeneye 007, a title that was many a 90s kid’s first FPS game. It also had some really catchy tunes. Now an enterprising YouTuber Jackson Parodi has combined music and gameplay by controlling Goldeneye with his digital piano. The concept is pretty simple. Parodi simply maps different piano keys to buttons on the N64 remote. Considering the N64 only had one analog stick and Goldeneye made you aim with four C-buttons or the D-Pad anyway, it’s not as inconvenient a setup as it might seem. You can…

A government panel in India has issued a recommendation to ban all “cryptocurrencies created by non-sovereigns,” a step which could be applied to Bitcoin. “The Committee notes with serious concern mushrooming of cryptocurrencies almost invariably issued abroad and numerous people in India investing in these cryptocurrencies. All these cryptocurrencies have been created by non-sovereigns and are in this sense entirely private enterprises,” their report reads. The panel said anyone dealing with digital currencies of any kind could face 10 years behind bars and be handed hefty fines. As part of its recommendation, the panel laid out the reasons why cryptocurrencies…

Today, we’re wrapped to present our new cryptocurrency and blockchain video series, Hash It Out — where influential industry figures meet in exotic locations to talk serious shop. For its debut episode (which you can watch above) we invited Yoni Assia (eToro CEO) and Dominik Schiener (IOTA co-founder) to cruise Amsterdam‘s picturesque canals, so we could learn exactly what it’s like to be a crypto-insider in 2019. Was the most recent bear market a good thing? How much money does IOTA have to power its next stage of development? What does it take to start a non-profit blockchain foundation in Germany? Are we under threat from…

Five reasons future space travel should explore asteroids

On the same day that the Earth survived an expected near-miss with asteroid 367943 Duende, Russian dashcams unexpectedly captured footage of a different asteroid as it slammed into the atmosphere, exploded, and injured more than 1,000 people. That day in Chelyabinsk in February 2013 reminded the world that the Earth does not exist in a bubble. Asteroids provide a direct connection between the Earth and interplanetary space. Craters such as the Barringer Crater in Arizona are a stark reminder. The dinosaurs died out due to a different impact not far away in the Gulf of Mexico. But elsewhere in the…
