Google announced at the end of last month that it had acquired the technology behind mobile payments app, Softcard. Now that company, which is owned by Verizon Wireless, AT&T, and T-Mobile, is shutting down. Softcard has announced on its website that its app will stop working on March 31 and will be replaced by Google Wallet. It’s not a surprise as Google also signed a deal with the carriers to preinstall its app on their Android devices.
