At CES today, Youtube chief business officer Robert Kyncl announced that the platform will soon introduce support for high dynamic range (HDR) video content. In TVs, high dynamic range refers to an expanded contrast ratio and color palette that allows for more realistic and natural looking images. But you’ll need an HDR-capable TV as well as HDR content for the full effect. That means your TV needs to be able to produce more light in specific areas of the image on screen than a normal display.
