Gawker today filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Shortly after, publisher Ziff Davis — owner of Web-based properties like AskMen, IGN and PC Mag — put in a binding offer of approximately $100 million to purchase its assets. These assets include Gawker, Lifehacker, Kotaku, Gizmodo, Jalopnik, Deadspin and Jezebel. As for what Ziff plans to do with them, an internal memo spotted by Recode outlines some of the next steps.
