Twilio, the company that made it easy to make phone calls and SMS’ via an API call, has today announced its first big expansion beyond that: live video calling. The company’s new offering, Twilio Video, is launching into private beta today and hopes to make it easy to embed real-time video experiences into mobile apps, websites and more using WebRTC. Developers previously needed to build their own infrastructure for placing WebRTC calls, but Twilio’s new API means they don’t need to handle that, instead using their client-side libraries for offering live video via its existing 28 data centers around the world.…
