Airbnb has open sourced Airpal, the tool it built to help employees get to data they need to use, reports Gigaom. The software is built on the open source Presto SQL engine, which was created by Facebook to speed access up to data stored in Hadoop. Airbnb built Airpal so that staff could quickly access data without having to wait for a data scientist to run a query for them.
