Restaurant guide Zomato boosts global plans with its first-ever acquisition, in talks for two more

India-headquartered restaurant guide Zomato announced today that it has made its first-ever global acquisition after purchasing New Zealand’s restaurant discovery service MenuMania for an undisclosed amount. MenuMania will be integrated into Zomato over the coming weeks, with Zomato CEO and founder Deepinder Goyal saying that the combined product will be the “largest resource of restaurant information in New Zealand.” Founded in 2008, Zomato is already India’s largest food and nightlife guide, but it has embarked on an ambitious global rollout throughout 2013 which has seen it enter London and other UK cities, Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia via the Philippines and subsequently Indonesia, and of course also…
