Much like last year, Apple made two versions of its iPhone. In last year’s 6s, Apple chose to utilize two separate processors — one marginally better than the other. In this year’s iPhone 7, Apple again chose different components, this time for the modem. One iPhone 7 has a Qualcomm modem, while the other uses hardware from Intel. Unlike last year, the improvement for the better of the two wasn’t exactly marginal. According to a report from Cellular Insights, the Qualcomm modem outperformed Intel by 30 percent.
